At Mastery Tutoring, the safety and well‑being of our students and tutors are our highest priority. This Safety Policy outlines the measures we take to maintain a secure, respectful, and supportive learning environment.

1. Tutor Screening

All tutors undergo a rigorous selection process that includes:

  • Comprehensive background checks, including criminal history
  • Verification of academic credentials and professional references
  • In‑person or video interviews assessing teaching ability and character
  • Mandatory training on child safety, appropriate boundaries, and our Code of Conduct

2. In‑Person Session Safety

For sessions held at our learning center:

  • All tutoring rooms have glass panels or open doors; sessions are never conducted in fully enclosed, unobservable spaces.
  • Our office is monitored by security cameras in common areas.
  • Parents are welcome to remain in our waiting area during sessions.
  • Staff are trained in basic first aid and emergency procedures.

3. Online Session Safety

For virtual tutoring sessions:

  • All sessions are conducted through secure, password‑protected video platforms.
  • Sessions may be recorded for quality assurance with parental consent.
  • We recommend that students participate from a common area of the home.
  • Tutors and students are prohibited from sharing personal contact information or connecting on social media outside of official channels.

4. Emergency Procedures

Our learning center has documented emergency protocols for fire, severe weather, and medical incidents. Emergency exits are clearly marked, and staff are trained to guide students to safety. In the event of an emergency during an online session, the tutor will end the session and contact the parent or emergency contact immediately.

5. Health and Hygiene

We maintain a clean and sanitized learning environment. High‑touch surfaces are cleaned regularly. Hand sanitizer is available throughout our center. We ask that students and tutors who are feeling unwell reschedule their sessions to prevent the spread of illness.
